About Deborah Clark Ebel

smaller.jpg    Deborah Clark Ebel was born in Norfolk, Virginia, and in her early teens moved to New England where she spent much of her life. She holds an associate’s degree in nursing and a bachelor’s degree in psychology. She has done graduate work in child welfare and is currently working on a master’s degree in psychology. She currently lives, once again, in Virginia.

With twenty-five years’ experience as a registered nurse, she has worked with emotionally- and behaviorally-disturbed children and adolescents in Connecticut, Alaska, and Virginia. Her lengthy piece, After We Lost Andrewthe tragic story of an eleven-year-old boy who died while being physically restrained in a Connecticut psychiatric hospital, was the cover story of an issue of The Hartford Courant’s Northeast Magazine. Milieu Therapy was featured in Adolescence magazine. Her first book, The Forgotten Future: Adolescents in Crisis  was released early this year and is available online. Visit Deborah’s web site.

Deborah is a member of the American Psychiatric Nurses’ Association, the International Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurses’ Association, the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), Cambridge Who’s Who, and First Families of Tennessee.
